「Wake Up Together」、

Robin Hammondによる「Where Love Is Illegal」というプロジェクトも公開された。

Despite his worldwide popularity, the photographer tragically took his own life at the age of 29.
Ren Hang, from China, was censored again and again by Chinese authorities in his country,
but his vivid body image gained a huge followers online and around the world.

Not only taking photographs, he often wrote poetry that express the depression he felt.
The title of this exhibition, “Wake Up Together”, is quoted from one of his poetries.

Wooly vol.27 was themed “Age of Wokeness”.
Overcoming all dichotomies, such as male and female, human and animal, tradition and innovation, you are welcome to express as you want to.
We have to build up such a time not to force someone like this talented photographer to give up his life.

This exhibition runs, alongside Ren Hang’s works, the project called “Where Love Is Illegal” by Robin Hammond.
People who identify themselves as LGBTQI+ have decided how they want to be photographed and described.
You can also find their stories surviving discrimination and oppression to love someone they love.

They say “wake up together.”

It all depends on you whether you take their hands or not.
