PRINTER SECTION X Noritake

Tokyo art book fair [TABF] was held at Gaien campus of Kyoto molding university for four days of 9/16 ~ 19. I’ll send a report of the 8th TBAF which did scale-up by having increased the dates more than usual on 1st.

Entering the gate, I received a map in the hall and a pamphlet written each name of the booth. The work in search of a booth with them reminds of the palpitation such as the treasure hunt.

At the outdoor space, People had been enjoying live performances of some artists and Gourmet. The mood was like a home party there. Of course, there were many not only the foreigner who exhibited a booth but also foreigners who arrived.

In the hall, there were a lot of booths in the first floor second floor crowdedly. Maybe I spent more than an hour to walk around all booths but I didn’t feel that. Because, I was excited to be in the space where people can share works each other. Even if I go to wherever, there was such space.
“This article may be sold out until I come back here.”
“It is easy for me to lose my way so I have trouble returning to this booth.”
I said to me such an excuse and bought some works.
I’ll show you some of my collection I bought at TABF.

1.TABF Special sample book
PRINTER SECTION X Noritake

Some paper manufacturing companies which opened up their booth and Noritake, an illustrator collaborated to create this sample book. There are postcards printed on the paper of 16 sorts. It is unique for common people to get a sample book. Also it is useful for peple planing to publish a ZINE to choose paper type of it.

2.”Shyu Sai”
published by MIYO Machiko, Japanese illustrator
tumblr: http://tumire411.tumblr.com/
Twitter : @arinkochan08

“Shyu Sai” means collecting something beautiful.
As its name suggests, beautiful Asian girls having glossy black hair and figure with the roundness appear in it. Machiko draws illustrations of the composition such as the photograph, I want the girls to be my own roll model by myself.
It is thread sewing booklet, its spine having the red thread is also cute.
Machiko is going to open up her booth in COMITIA118(booth No.F51a) held on October 23rd(11:00~16:00) at Tokyo BIG SITE Eastern Hall.

3.”PAN”
published by Team MiKanSei

Twitter: @mikanseisei

The theme of this ZINE is “bread”. It posted an interview and portrait of the bread. I bought it because of my friend’s recommend. She said to me “It is like a dope.” Now, I’m also fascinated it. If you read it, you may find the magnitude of the presence of the bread. Its addictive is seen from the fact that have been issued up to No. 4. You can buy their ZINEs at TeamMikansei’s official online store.
Taem MiKanSei is going to open up their booth in Saitama(10/9 http://www.lpack.jp/momas2016/) and Setagaya of Tokyo(10/10.11 http://www.setagaya-panmatsuri.com/ ).

A main charm of TABF is to be able to pass works from creators to buyers. Usually, they communicate on mail or SNS so such opportunity is valuable. I think that this means increase emotion between them. Creators can connect feeling to be seen own works by many people with enthusiasm to create. Then buyers make inside story about encountering the work. When you reflect the work, you recollect excitement with its story.
I saw works of various genres but the common point of all booths was that there were a lot of encounters. Encountering to paper, works and people…. I feel like realizing that meaning of expression ”Once in a lifetime opportunity”.
All people concerned with TABF spent 4days getting “emotion of offline”. I have already looked forward to next TABF.

ABOUT TABF
It is a book fair of the Japanese maximum level.Artists, editors and publisher of ZINE from various contries open up their booth at TABF. Also this year, It was in full swing.
