Editor Ayaka (From now on A): First of all, what was it that made you become a model?

Eriko (From here on E):It was in my first year in Junior high when I decided that I was going to live in America. Since I was going to go to America, I thought that I might as well leave something behind here in Japan, haha. So I tried to do some modeling, something that I had always admired. I used to get embarrassed easily so I was afraid that people around me would just laugh at me, but I was gonna leave Japan anyway so I just thought ‘whatever’ and tried it, haha.

A:I see… So now being in Japan, do you enjoy modeling?

E:Yea that’s right! Even walking lesson are getting more and more fun, so now I really like modeling. It’s a lot of fun!

A:That’s great! I hope that with Wooly you can become more and more the person you want to be, and freely come up with ideas of what you want to do and share that through us. So, is there anyone you look up to? Any role model, or someone you are aiming to become like?

E:I’d say there are 3 people. The first one is MONA! She is really unique and she expresses herself very lovely, in way that isn’t too sexy, if you get what I mean? From her dance videos to her lifestyle with her foreign friends, it is all just so amazing and I really look up to her. The next one is Kiko. I think most girls do adore her, but no matter what anyone else says, to me she is, and always will be, very important. The third one is Yuka Mizuhara, with her lovely smile which gives me energy just to look at. Thinking how she can influence me so much just through that one things must mean that she herself is really happy.

A:Eriko you seem to really like people not just based on what they look like, but people who overflow with their own personality from the inside. You seem to absorb so many things around you, which really makes you dazzle and shine very bright, haha! Oh, and I remember when I first met you, your hairstyle was a bob, which kind of reminded me of Kiko!

E: I’m so glad to hear that! And yes, that is why I also want to find my own place here in the world! Right now I kinda want to work with music, and watching Yuka I became interested in trying out DJing myself. I want to collect CDs from all around the world, from America to Shanghai, and just create my very own music. I’m aiming to do my proper DJ debut in July and by fall I hope to be invited to play at events here and there!

Editor’s Note
Shooting location : IMPACT HUB TOKYO
Following the back alley alongside Meguro river you can find a slightly unusual building, a place overflowing with warmth and by people gathered there. It is a place where it seems like office workers from all around the world could be gathered at, a place where events and exhibition are held regularly, as well as being a café. The open space itself is somewhat similar to Wooly, it is something that gives you a taste of a bilingual and creative atmosphere. So there is no doubt in my mind that it is a place Wooly readers would enjoy. In the café space, they offer carefully selected coffee and a food menu which changes on a daily basis, as well as depending on the weekdays. Every Tuesday you can enjoy a business trip curry, ‘Dada curry’. Just by being inside the facility and interesting ideas seem to start popping into your mind, so why don’t you give this space dazzling from high sense, a try?
