How would you describe your style or vision for taking photos?

I try to always be spontaneous and let things happen in the moment. Of course you kind of need to set things up to allow interesting things to happen. But once I’m shooting, I try not to think too much. I think some of my best shots just came to me randomly while doing something completely different. You just need to be aware, have the right mindset and have your camera ready.

ーWhat inspires you as a photographer?

A lot of different things. When it comes to my personal photography it’s all about different moments I experience. It could be a good party, a beautiful sunset, a trip with my friends, going to a cat exhibition… Literally anything.
Also, I am a big fan of Swedish photographer Lars Tunbjörk. His work is always amazing and very inspiring.

ーDo you have any favorite Japanese photographer ? Who and Why?

To be honest I don’t know that many Japanese photographers. But I did see a series of pictures called ”Seascapes” by Hiroshi Sugimoto a couple of years ago that stuck in my mind. So simple but still so visually striking. And Araki is always interesting of course.

ーDo you have any plans to come to Japan?

I have been wanting to go to Japan for a long time. I just have to go there! I don’t have any set plans but I’m hoping next year!

ーIn terms of personal branding, what is important to you as a photographer?

For me it’s important to always keep a sense of humour even if it’s subtle.

ーWhat current trends in photography excite you?

It’s not a specific trend in photography but in general I appreciate how people are kind of moving away from the over-retouched stuff we used to see. That stuff is still there but there’s definitely a lot of interest in photography that feels more genuine. Things don’t have to look ”perfect” in the same way anymore.

ーWhen did you start working as STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER AT VICE NORDIC?

I personally knew a few people working at VICE before and somehow we started working together. They had me take pictures at the Gagnef festival here in Sweden a couple of years ago and since then we’ve done a couple of shoots and stories together. It’s great because they always let me do my thing and I can always approach them with my own stuff and suggestions. They will always be supportive and help out.

ーYou have grate look photo shooting with many fashion brand too! Can you tell us how you got started in photography with fashion?

I think I’ve been interested in shooting fashion for a pretty long time. Maybe not for the fashion itself but in how fashion photography (at least editorial) is a great format which allows you to be creative and get stuff out quickly. I haven’t shot THAT much fashion but one of my first proper shoots that I’m not embarrassed about is the Bathroom Bitches I did for VICE. The subject matter was interesting and it was the first time I could use that photographic aesthetic for commissioned fashion work. Since then I’ve been doing more and more fashion and I’m starting to find ”my thing” within fashion photography.

ーWhat one photo means the most to you?

There’s no ONE photo but I chose this:

PastedGraphic-1 (1)

It’s not a great picture but it means a lot to me. It’s from a few years back when me and my friends used to go out a lot and these strange drunken situations would happen almost every weekend. For me it’s important to remember that no matter what I do with photography I still think it’s those memories with your friends and loved ones that matters the most.

ーWhat are your future plans?

I am working on a documentary project. I don’t want to reveal just yet what it’s about but I think it’s gonna be really interesting but also very funny. The plan is to make it into a photo book. I also have a smaller solo exhibition in a couple of months that I’m very excited about!
